Question- Why is the 1,4 isomer, 1,4-di-t-butyl-2,5-dimethoxybenzene, the major product in the alkylation of dimethoxybenzene? Would you expect the either of the following compounds to be formed as side products: 1,3-di-t-butyl-2,5-dimethoxybezene or 1,4-dimethoxy-2,3-di-t-butylbenzene? Why or why not?
