Why is normal phase chromatography ideal for separating

Why is normal phase chromatography ideal for separating the components (chlorophyll a, b, and carotene) in a petroleum ether spinach extract? (why not reverse phase?)

And why was it important for the sample that was loaded into the chromatography column to be concentrated to 1mL, as opposed to putting in the 10mL diluted solution?
