Question 1:
Why is Intrusion Prevention critical in a modern network? Compare and Contrast the Advantages and Disadvantages of IDS and IPS. At a minimum address the questions such as: What are the differences between IPS and IDS? Do you need both or is one sufficient? What are some use cases where you would pick one over the other? What are the advantages of each and what are the drawbacks? Is there a use case where you would not need to use either? Remember to incorporate the information from your online course text as well as adding two additional references to support your post.

What are some of the steps you can take to Secure a Local Area Network (LAN)? At a minimum address the questions such as: How do you properly secure a Layer 2 switch? What type of host-based security measures can be taken? How does Cisco's AMP product fit into the equation? What about routers and routing protocols? Remember to incorporate the information from your online course text as well as adding two additional references to support your post.
