A) Review/familiarization with Labor history in the U.S. with an eye to making connections to Crawford’s discussion and use of terms from Rhetoric as appropriate. How does Taylorism play a part? Does it still? Since Crawford focuses his narrative on the small shop owner how/why are labor unions relevant to his discussion? How and where do crafords’s concerns connect? Crawford’s small scale Vs. big manfactures.
B) Why has blue collar manual labor lost so much ethos? What events, people or other factors have been involved? When? Does this loss have only to do with organized labor or does it also affect the small shop owner? What are the ideologies involved?
