Why habituation is recognized as most basic form of learning

Problem: Respond briefly to this discussion.

Habituation is recognized as the most basic form of learning. When a particular stimulus is constantly repeated in someone's life, a person's response is eventually diluted. In turn, this mechanism allows people to better adapt and focus on vital information or events. An easy way to understand habituation is filtering. Whenever a person filters water, the filter removes any dirt---leaving only clean water. Similarly, habituation removes any unnecessary memories to leave only biologically vital events.

My mother wears cologne that me and my younger brother are used to. Whenever we go out she often gets complimented for her cologne. This sometimes confuses me and my younger brother since we no longer smell it but for some reason others do. That's because me and my brother already adapted to the scent of our mom's cologne while people who just met our mother still haven't adapted to the scent yet.

Sensitization is a learning process in which a person's response becomes more immense after they're exposed to a specific stimulus repeatingly. Eventually, the constant exposure to this stimulus causes a person to be more hyper aware. I recently watched the horror movie OBSESSION with my brother and friends. One of our friends doesn't handle horror movies well so the constant jumpscares and loud sounds from the movie put him on high alert. Eventually, every small sound caused him to jump. Even when I whispered his name to ask if he was alright, he jumped. While watching the movie, my friend was experiencing sensitization. Need Assignment Help?
