Blackface has been a hot topic lately yet few Americans understand or are knowledgeable about its origins. This discussion board forum will ask you to consider the history and origins of blackface and other cultural stereotypes of African Americans as discussed. Discuss the following:
a) Which of the stereotypes presented in Lesson 8 has, in your opinion, made the most enduring impressions on the reputation and image of African Americans in our own day and time? Why do you think so?
b) Does the black community bear in responsibility in the perpetuation of these stereotypical portrayals? Why or why not?
