Why do you think there was such a diverse compositional technique in 20th century music? Some of that era’s music is beautiful and sticks to form while other music is almost to dissonant to listen to. What do you think some of the reasons might be for these compositional shifts? What was or was not happening in the modern world at that time that may have led to this?
