Why do you think there are social norms do you think that

Question: Why do you think there are social norms? Do you think that social norms are really viewed by everyone (same state/ country) the same? Do you think the social norms of today are the same as the social norms 20 to 30 years ago? Why or why not?

So, without research or someone else's bias, what is your take on social norms today. Do you try to fit in or are you someone who dares to be different. So during my research on social norms I found that there are gender specific social norms. So let me ask you do you think girls should wear pink and boys wear blue? What about the on that states men should be strong and not show emotions? Here is a big one, do you think it's right that men should do repairs at home and make the money for the house hold and the women should take care of the house and the children?

In my opinion that way of thinking is so 1950"s. Now of course some people think this is how it should be and some don't. Please give me your opinion on these gender specific norms. Why do you think some social norms evolve and some stay the same?
