Why do you think Charlie Chaplin decided to stay silent? Choose a scene from City Lights and perform a Plot-Music-Function analysis on it. As a conclusion, speculate on what this scene might have sounded like with recorded dialogue. (For extra credit, write some actual dialogue for the scene!) Which way is it funnier?
