a) The simplest and most obvious answer to the question "What motivated the missionaries?" is probably "faith." Is there a better answer-one that addresses missionaries' earthly goals for the Indigenous people they lived with?
b) What aspects of Indigenous life did those who compiled the Jesuit Relations consider worthy of their attention? Why?
c) Why do you think missionaries needed to live for extended periods among Indigenous people? Could they just have visited once in a while?
d) What might have led the Huron/Wendat to distrust the missionaries among them, or to believe that a higher power favoured them?
e) How did the Ursulines approach educating Indigenous girls? How successful were they?
