Ethical Case Study Analysis & Presentation
The assignment must be 3 to 4 pages in length, 12-point font, double-spaced, APA style. Students will examine the case of Frank Serpico, retired NYPD officer. Students should use Google in order to look for articles about Serpico's case. Each student will then summarize the case and use a collection of sources (Internet articles, peer-reviewed articles, books) in order to synthesize the information. Students must cite the sources throughout the assignment.
Students must provide an analysis (half a page to one full page) on the last page. During the class presentation you will address the issues of ethics and constitutional issues e.g., 41h, 5th, and 6th amendment .
Do you believe that Serpico's case represents what is going on in policing when cops commit crimes? Do you believe that justice was served?
Do you believe that the NYPD violated Serpico's constitutional rights? Why or why not?
Students can use their textbook as a source but must provide a total of 5 to 7 sources and cite them in the paper. Points will be deducted if students fail to submit the required pages for the assignment.
