Let's start with something easy: why do we write?
Forget about it being the basis of civilization, that it is the singular way history has been passed down to us (soon to be replaced - if not already - by images), that it remains the way we learn, we teach, and a bunch of other stuff we can go over in my philosophy class.
So, why do we write?
