Why do I work? I work because I have the desire to. I want to fulfill my purpose. I am most certainly doing what I love to do. I once thought that I simply fell into the career field that I am a part of. That I happened upon the job, I was in the right place at the right time. No, this was God’s plan and because I was walking and listening to Him I was able to be in position to begin to fulfill my purpose. This is a big part of my Spiritual Formation. I am able to work without having to integrate my faith because my faith is my job. I mentor and speak to women all over about addiction and about how to devote your life to God. This might be Generativity Vs. Stagnation. At least it is closely related to that if I were to try and fit it into one of Erikson’s stages. If I had to do something else for a long period of time I’d be miserable. I don’t even really consider what I do work. It just is what I do. I think that’s good sign that I don’t feel like it’s a drag to get up to work. Now, not everyday is chocolate and caramel. But to see people surrender their lives to Jesus. To get to be a part of someone’s life who is giving living without drugs and alcohol a shot, is more than satisfying. More than impressive. It is humbling. I get to watch God move in peoples lives daily. I get to grow in faith and love daily. I wouldn’t give that up for anything.
