Passive verbs lack strength because their subjects receive actions instead of performing them. Often, actors disappear from passive sentences.
Please rewrite each of the following sentences in active voice. To do this, identify the "actor" of the sentence - the one who should be performing the action of the sentence - and switch the order of the sentence around so that the actor is the one actively doing something.
Take this sentence for instance: "Why was the road crossed by the chicken?"
The chicken is the actor in this sentence, but is being treated as the object. To place the chicken in the active role, you would rewrite the sentence like this:
"Why did the chicken cross the road?"
