Why controlling is necessary as a function of management

Problem

I. After reading chapter 12 of the Carpenter text and the Vizzutti article, reflect on the communication cornerstones identified and describe your preferred approach to effective communication in the workplace. Identify the potential communication barriers and how these can be avoided. Lastly, share three ways you plan to implement effective communication concepts to a current or future leadership role. Incorporate at least two citations from the readings to support your statements. Focus your replies to peers on their plan for effective communication-how does their communication style match or differ from yours? If they served as a leader on your team at work, would you be able to communicate effectively? Why or why not?

II. Controlling is a function of management and can be described as monitoring performance, comparing performance to pre-determined goals, and taking corrective action as needed. Reflect on chapters 15.3-15.6 of the Carpenter text and describe why controlling is necessary as a function of management. Expound on some of the ways controls can be implemented within an organization and how the controlling function is related to other functions of management (planning, organizing, and leading). Incorporate at least two citations from the reading to support your statements.
