1) Why are debilitated gerontologic patients considered to be at a particularly high risk for development of a urinary tract infection (UTI), and what steps can be taken to reduce this risk?
2) Your patient who has developed acute glomerulonephritis has asked you how the sore throat could have possibly harmed her kidneys. What do you tell them about the connection? Does the person have any responsibility in developing this problem? If so, what was their responsibility and how could the condition have been prevented?
