Who were the research participants

Assignment task:

Keep your eyes and ears open to news accounts about studies recently conducted as well as older (sometimes - classic) studies that for one reason or the other became relevant for current times. Preferably, focus on research in psychology but news for other social sciences (e.g., sociology, anthropology, criminology, epidemiology, public health, etc.) are most welcome too.

Submit THREE (3) professionally written summaries of a research project you encountered in media of your choice. The idea is to describe THREE news accounts reporting on a scientific study or studies (any media found via web).  See my example. Please include the link to the actual news piece, and if possible, to the actual study (as I did) that was described in the news source you used.

In other words a very basic introduction (200 words minimum) that might answer some (not all) of the questions listed below:

1. What was the objective or purpose of the study (e.g., hypotheses, study questions)?

2. Who were the research participants?

3. What method was used to gather data (e.g., experiment, quasi-experiment, survey, etc.)?

4. What were the independent and dependent variable(s) (if you can identify them)?

5. What were the major findings?

6. What conclusions did the authors draw?

7. What is your (intuitive) assessment of the quality of the study?
