Our readings and class lectures have described the general trends that accompany urbanization as a process of population concentration. But we have spent less time discussing why people historically chose to settle in cities. For this assignment, imagine you are an individual living sometime prior to the year 1850 who has decided to relocate to an urban area. Explain what time period you are in, where you are moving from and to, and the reasons for your move.
