Who benefited from child labor

Discussion Question:

Choose TWO images

Q1. What can each image tell us about the life of children?

Q2. Who benefited from child labor? Did the Factory Act address any of these problems?

Q3. What can we learn about the industrial revolution in Britain (and beyond)? How do we measure the costs?

Ideas to Consider: While work in the factories was hard at first, the rules insane, over time people were able to afford more and children were educated, although this also meant that women had to stay home to take care of the children, like-it-or-not. How do we measure the costs involved in the Revolution and the long term improvement in life? What was necessary, ad what was the case just because of greed?
