While both attitudes and institutional arrangements have overall become more open toward variation in sexual orientation, gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgendered individuals still face much prejudice and discrimination in the U.S. Your original discussion post this week has three parts:
a) Using our library's database, find one sociologically relevant article that looks at gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender disadvantage (prejudice, discrimination, etc.) in our society. Provide a full reference for your article (title, author, year, publisher, etc.). I should be able to find your article from the information provided so please test your links.
b) Write a brief summary (100-150 words) of the article (these should be your OWN words here, not from the abstract);
c) Discuss how your example connects to anything in this week's Barkan textbook chapter OR article ("Transgendered Violence") or even the Tony Porter video clip using an appropriate reference.
