Problem: We all approach the topic of family from our own unique vantage point, defined and influenced by our history with specific family experiences. Sociologists also analyze family from a unique set of personal, theoretical, and contextual perspectives. Social science is ripe with theories about how family is constructed, changed, and influenced over time and by culture. From the Chapter 1 reading for this week, consider the major theoretical perspectives to be studied in this course (i.e., conflict theory, functionalism, etc.).
