Pretend you have been asked to serve as a sociologist on the community development board in Malthus Villa. The city founders fear there will not be enough resources to sustain the community if they continue to expand. Cornucopian Development Inc., the developer, argues the community can simply increase their use of technology to keep up with the demands of its citizens as expansion continues. The board members are not familiar with the theories of population growth so they have asked you to research this topic for them. Then come up with a summary of the two theories, Malthusian Theory and Cornucopian Theory. Which theory do you agree with more? And if you think the community should or should not continue to expand?
