Which populations would you consider to be k-selected

Problem:

Predator-prey realtionships are important when considering the ecology of many species. Let us assume that the prey is a population of mice, and the predator is a population of feral cats.

Required:

Question 1: Give your own short, possible hypothesis as to why increases in the cat population would lag behind those of the mouse.

Question 2: Which populations would you consider to be k-selected?

Could someone explain this to me?
