Problem
I am preparing to conduct a thesis on the subject of Ethnology about how the topic of gang criminality is described in the media.
I will be taking newspaper articles and analyze them by using discourse analysis as a method.
My research questions are:
What phenomena are connected to the concept of "gang criminality"?
Which perspectives can be identified in the material and how can these be interpreted as power?
I am in the stage of gathering literature for the Bakground and Previous research parts of my thesis.
Do you have any suggestions of international articles I could use? Anything regarding how the media constructs the concept of gang criminality/ youngsters choosing a life of crime. Any books and article suggestions are very welcome.
If you have any other advice, you are welcome to include it. It is my first time writing a thesis about Ethnology.
