Suppose the objective of a laboratory experiment is to measure the effect of freezing on the elastic modulus of concrete. You take two identical concrete samples from the fog room, and then test one sample in the saturated condition and the other, in a frozen condition (say -20oC). Assume that the freezing was done carefully and, therefore, did not generated micro cracks. Which concrete will have a higher elastic modulus: saturated concrete or frozen concrete?
