Where the assigned loop current leaves the voltage source

An easy way to determine the algebraic sign of the voltage sources in your simultaneous equations is to see where the assigned loop current leaves the voltage source. If current leaves the voltage source at its positive terminal, the voltage would be positive and if it leaves the voltage source at its negative terminal, the voltage would be negative.
