Consider how attitudes change over time. With the influx into Australia of migrants and refugees, and when providing services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, language can be a barrier as many of these people will have different first languages. Communication and communication procedures will need to be modified to accommodate their needs and, where necessary, translators or community elders might be asked to assist the communication process.
Workplace policies also need to change and adapt over time.
