Here are the directions for the Chapter 6 post. Log into Mastering Geography and then enter the "study area." Set the Chapter at the top for Chapter 1 (NOT Chapter 6). Click on "web links" on the left. Scroll down to the last link - The Earth Institute at Columbia University." (An alternate way of getting to this site is to "google" The Earth Institute at Columbia University.)

When you are in this site, use the search function in the upper right and type in "Africa" or "Sub-Saharan Africa" or a particular country in Sub-Saharan Africa. Find an article that interests you.....read it and then compose a post that summarizes the article and links it specifically to material or concepts in Chapter 6 of the textbook. Please provide page numbers and/or bold the concepts you are discussing (like you did for the "migration stories" post in Chapter 3). The first sentence should include the title of your article (as it is listed in the search).

Once again, you cannot post on an article that another student has used. There are many articles of varying topics - poverty, addressing disease, climate change, population, education, and on and on, so you should be able to find an appropriate article.

Your post should be at least two paragraphs, and if you're not writing at least 8 sentences you're probably being too brief and not providing enough detail.

The article can discuss Africa in general or a specific country, but you should NOT choose an article that deals primarily with one of the North African countries - Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, or Sudan. We'll be looking at these countries in Chapter 7. The new country of South Sudan would be appropriate, however.
