when a beam of monochromatic x ray is incident on

When a beam of monochromatic x ray is incident on a graphite block, it get scattered and scattered wavelength is larger than that of the incident radiation wavelength. This scattering of X ray is known as Compton scattering and the difference in wavelength of incident X ray and scattered X ray is known as Compton shift.
