Assignment Part 1: Imagine that a close friend invites you to a party where you won't know anyone else. What do you do? Do you accept? How do you act once you are there? How might other people act? How do you feel? How might other people feel? What if someone you don't know starts a conversation with you and your friend? When you are alone? What if your friend leaves the party?
Assignment Part 2: Interpret these behaviors in terms of attachment and behavior in the strange situation. What does a securely attached person do? Preoccupied/ambivalent/anxious? Avoidantly/dismissve? Keep in mind: Attachment system involves feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. The attachment system is triggered by novel situations and threat, but attachment style also influences how threatening you find social situations.
