It is Friday night and you and your significant other both had a long busy week with work and school, and you must decide what you want to do for dinner.
Person 1:
You had a rough week and all you thought about all day was getting home and relaxing in your sweat pants. The last thing you want to do is go out to a busy restaurant with a lot of noise. You also are limited with your selection of menu options as you are vegan. You would love to just chill and have a glass or two of wine.
Person 2:
Your friends at work have been raving about the food at this new restaurant all week. You cannot wait to try this place. You have also had a busy week and are looking forward to having a few beers to celebrate the beginning of the weekend. Because this new restaurant is so popular, there are no "Happy Hour" specials and their beers are very pricey. You have your rent and car payment due next week, so money is a little tight.
Role play the scenario, keeping in mind your BATNA, as well as the BATNA of the other party and remember the 4 Principles of Negotiation:
