Problem
We have read a celebrated memoir, Jamaica Kincaid's A Small Place. Write three full paragraphs (each of four to six sentences) stating what you believe the work says about the legacy of colonialism in the Caribbean. Try and suggest in your paragraphs an answer to the question as to what extent colonialism is responsible for the "underdevelopment" of the region.
A paragraph is like a composition in miniature: it has an argument (just one), usually presented in the first sentence (the topic sentence), evidence presented in the body or middle of the paragraph and a concluding sentence that ties everything together, and reiterates the point or purpose of the paragraph.
