Interacting with the youth as a police officer or correctional officer in a detention center can be difficult. The youth have brains that have not fully developed and matured. They are influenced easily by their peers and often view law enforcement as the enemy.
What are some changes that can be made by law enforcement to better communicate with the youth?
Is there anything within your local communities that is already in place to resolve the communication issues with the youth who are victims/witnesses/suspects?
If you were a juvenile, what would you want from your local law enforcement as a means of trust and understanding?
