Problem

Case Study:

Rays is a global, established and well-renowned parts manufacturer for the automotive industry. Rays has approximately 2,000 employees across its operating locations: Perth, Melbourne, Mumbai, London and Los Angeles. 60% of the workforce are Baby Boomers, 20% Gen X and the rest are Millennials/Gen Z.

Many workers are hands-on and have been Rays employees for over 20 years, cemented in their daily routines. The large majority of employees are not trustworthy of the systems and have resorted to recording their daily sales figures, customer transactions, leave and timesheets using manual, paper-based processes. Furthermore, there is a growing concern that Rays rollout of the new HR system does not address business needs, resulting in employees relying heavily on face-to-face interactions to complete customer order demand and fulfilment, employee rostering and updating personal information.

A new HR executive was recently appointed, and one of their key goals is to review the current HR system implementation. The previous HR executive wanted to demonstrate the benefits that an improved, automated HRIS system would provide - by utilising internal Rays consultants to conduct training and to socialise system benefits via a roadshow with key business stakeholders attending in person in Australia.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, an indefinite ban has been placed on all domestic and international travel. The HR executive has asked you to help them understand what people components they should be considering before resuming this major transformational program.

The executive has decided to review the HR system implementation and pause the project. This will involve,

a) reviewing the design and standardization of HR business processes
b) reviewing the integrated system to manage all HR activities
c) working out the best way to facilitate the roadshow and conducting training for key users

The new HR executive has asked you to help them understand what people components they should be considering before resuming this major transformational program.
