Problem:
The one thing that comes to my mind in recent history is something I am sure either affected all of us or someone we know and that was when the government shut down last year. Because of Congress's inability to come together and reach a decision many American's suffered and were put in a very tough spot of possibly not being able to feed their families, even if they worked there are millions of American's whose income is unable to cover all the cost of daily living. As well as many seniors whose retirement or social security does not keep up with and compare to the cost of living. This left many having to wonder how they were supposed to choose between a place to live or something to eat, which bills to pay so that their kids could eat, or even if they could go without the medicine that they needed so they could eat. And to make it all worse it happened right at the holidays where many families who are already very stretched financially are trying to just be able to have some semblance of a normal holiday season whatever that may look like for their family. Because of government shutting down it led people to do things that wouldn't normally do. I know in my area for a couple of weeks before they issued SNAP benefits, even the partial ones there was several news stories just in my town of people who were arrested for shoplifting but they were getting food, mainly meats, so they could feed their kids.
