What when a social worker experiences burnout

Problem: When a social worker experiences burnout, it can hurt the social worker and, more importantly, the client. The impact can affect all the parties involved (social worker/client) and the client's family because you are giving them the proper attention they need, so they are taking those feelings and thoughts home. A social worker's burnout could impact colleagues because they must do their work if they do not show up.  Three ways that I will incorporate self-care into my daily routine are staying in my bible, taking care of myself mentally/physically, and most importantly, having my people in my corner to talk to. "Social workers are constantly faced with the challenges of helping others, while dealing with pressures that may lead them to experience compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma. However, they must not forget to advocate for themselves. While they may learn in graduate school to assess, treat, and advocate for clients, often they are not taught to practice self-care" ((Did You Know Burnout Is Real? | Social Work Blog, n.d.
