You are to complete the required reading for the week and respond to two of the reflection questions below. The response should be at least 500 words in length, roughly 250 words per question.
• If you were to give yourself a letter grade (A, B, C, etc.), what grade would you give regarding your ability to handle crucial conversations? Discuss how you hope that will "improve your grade" in the future. Give us your plan to improve.
• Provide brief answers to the following questions: What is the cost of conflict for you? How much time do you spend either dealing with conflict or thinking about it? Does it affect your relationship with others? If you are the leader of an organization or team, how is conflict costing your organization? Are your employees empowered to debate issues so that you get more creative results, or is your organization one in which people keep quiet, avoid rigorous discussion, and settle for mediocre compromises?
• Share with the class a conflict that had a positive outcome. What were the contributions that brought about these positive outcomes?
• Tell the class about a situation (at home, work, church, on the ball field, etc.) you have seen where the inability to handle conflict has led to dire costs. Was health ever restored?
The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
