What were my assumptions about ethics and morality before

Individual Reflection

Students are to maintain a Journal that records their views and observations of the content of the course units and its applications to their daily professional and personal lives.

All entries are to be collated in week 12 and students are then to write a reflection of approximately 1000 words.

The key aspect of reflection is a critical evaluation of the self.

As such students are required to complete at least 3 ethical diagnostic tools, (attaching the results in the appendix of the submission) and examine their own ethical practice in the light of these results and ethical theory.

Ethical diagnostic tools include the Values Questionnaire, Moral Compass and Defining Issues Test, etc. Refer to Unit 1 course-notes for a website address with a range of tools that can be undertaken. Students should note that 3 tools are required as a minimum, however, the more tools that are undertaken the more in-depth and reliable the results will be.

Key questions that could be addressed are:

- What were my assumptions about ethics and morality before coming to this course?

- Have these changed and why?

- What were my assumptions about the nature and purpose of business activity?

- Have these change and why?

- What were my assumptions about the responsibility of business and organisations to communities and broader society?

- Have these change and why?

- What will I do differently as a result of undertaking this course?

This assessment specifically addresses all course objectives 1-4 by requiring students to reflect on all topics and their application to the business sector and to the self.
