Modernization theorists could say that the t-shirt business should actually push the economies' growth path as well. They business is taking advantage of the disadvantageous people without providing them the proper conditions that every human being is entitled to. Proper conditions of life need to be in place such that the workers get a proper dignity in their workplace.
Dependency theory would suggest that developing economies are dependent on the developed countries in this way. This will suggest that the business could work as an opportunity for the people like Jasmine.
What we learn is that the output produced in a factory has a completely different use compared to what it means to the workers. For workers making a t shirt ensures her bare day to day living. For a global consumer it means style and status and for a business it means profit.
