What was thoreau reason for walden experiment

Assignment Discussion: Reacting to Henry David Thoreau's WALDEN excerpts

David Longest After reading the excerpts from Henry David Thoreau's WALDEN, respond with a well though out paragraph discussing the following:

Henry David Thoreau's two years spent at Walden Pond and his subsequent writing of WALDEN from the extended essays in his personal journals gave the world a unique look at a man who cherished absolute solitude. He was not a hermit since he often walked back to town for dinners with friends, but the majority of his life energy during the two year period was spent writing about nature, his thoughts on life, and his rather poetic philosophies.

What do you believe was Thoreau's main reason for his Walden "experiment" and what did he learn from it?

His narrative style is quite simple in content but formal in language. He wants the world to learn from him. Have you ever had the urge to isolate, get away from it all, and simply THINK about things? Explain what might be accomplished by doing this!
