Pay attention to the struggle between English King's and their Nobles for control of the realm. Were King's above the Law? How did the English Nobility eventually begin the process of reigning in Royal Authority? What was life like for English peasants?
What was the struggle between church and state? What role in politics was the church trying to perform? Should the state (embodied in the King's) be supreme over the church or the church over the state? Why was this so important? Was it always apparent the church was subordinate to the state? In the end, did the church win or the state?
Why are the political developments in this period important to Western and World History? How important is the history of England to our modern sense of 'Ftights' and 'Good Government?" Why is this especially important to the history of the United States and your life today?
