What was the relationship between the institution of slavery and the outbreak and course of the Civil War?
As a word of caution, the causes of the Civil War DO NOT trace back to ancient Africa!!
Be sure your work is relevant. You may want to begin your paper with the entrenchment of slavery in the 13 original British Colonies.
From there, you should explore why the Northern colonies (later known as states after the Revolution) transitioned out of slave labor while the Southern colonies (later known as states after the Revolution), deepened the institution. From there you work your way to the Civil War.
The paper (not including the cover page) should be a minimum of 750 words (approximately 3 pages) in length, double spaced.
