Discuss the following aspects of Le Salvador or Nicaragua:
1) Briefly discuss the situation in your chosen country during the early decades of the 20th century (1920s to 1940s).
2) Explain the emergence of new social and political actors during the decades of the 1960s and 1970s. Who were these groups and what did they want? What was the reaction of the local political and military authorities to their demands?
3) Describe how the revolutionary process/civil conflict unfolded in the country you have chosen during the last decades of the 20th century (1960s-1990s), and make sure to explain what was the role played by the United States in said conflict.
4) Discuss some of the main effects of the conflict you have analyzed in your chosen Central American country.
5) Briefly explain how the poems by Ernesto Cardenal and/or Roque Dalton, and/or the testimonio by Rigoberta Menchú engage with the events unfolding in the Central American region during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Make sure to choose the appropriate text for the specific case you have analyzed.
