Read the following essay on the famous "Oregon Trail".
This visit this site, and read some of the documents left by individuals who traveled west along the "Oregon Trail" in the 19th century.
What was the "Oregon Trail"? What particularly struck you about the experiences of the settlers who traveled on it? Refer to at least two of the specific settlers whose letters or diaries you read, and compare and contrast their experiences. In what ways were they similar, or different? Be specific in your analysis.
