Judge Judy is known for her outspoken behavior on the bench and for being one of New York's toughest judges - attributes she brings to her "syndicourt" (syndicated courtroom) television show. Did you know that in her show Judge Judy is not acting as a judge but as an arbitrator? The parties who appear on the show have signed an agreement allowing Judge Judy to resolve their dispute outside of an official court proceeding.
Watch an episode of Judge Judy or any similar "TV Judge" show. Then answer the following questions.

A. What was the case about? How did the Judge treat each party? Was there any behavior from the Judge or the parties involved that surprised you?

C. Do shows such as these have an impact on people's expectations of court? If so, how?
