The last sentence at the bottom of Handout 4 Slide 19 states that “All models and tools are built upon assumptions: if the assumptions are found to be wrong… decisions based upon those models are unlikely to create the desired outcome.” Handout 8 (on slide 23) showed that one erroneous assumption many managers have regarding measurements to drive decision-making is that we should allocate overhead to the product level.
