What theoretical perspectives sociologist use

Problem:

The theoretical perspectives sociologist use to understand and convey race and ethnicity are functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Functionalism "emphasizes that all the elements of society have functions that promote solidarity and maintain order and stability in society" (Cornerly et. al., 2022). This theory can often strengthen the bond of the individuals who are in a certain "group" due to the commonality of treatment they most likely will receive. Conflict theory believes that power struggles between groups is due to race and ethnicity. For example, the struggles seen with the white ruling class and the racial and ethnic minorities is an ongoing conflict in society. Interactionism is the belief that symbols of each race and ethnicity may be a stronger cause of racism rather than race itself. An individual may see an image or video on social media in regards to a certain race or ethnic group, and then only associate that group as what the viewed, not the individuals themselves. I think that symbolic interactionism is the most compelling and likely to promote social justice as social media is one of the biggest platforms to spread information in today's society. An individual can make a post and millions of people can see this post and this could in turn change the way an individual thinks or views a certain race/ethnic group.
