What themes were important to portray in the chicano

Chicano Park is the park with murals under the Coronado bridge and I-5.  Most people don't know that those murals are in art history texts and that the Park is a national historical landmark.  The murals were made by artist-activists during the Chicano Movement of the 1960s and 1970s.  The link below is to the documentary "Chicano Park," and it tells the story of the creation of the park.  View at least the first half of the film.  Then, tomorrow, Saturday, April 22, between 10-5 pm, go have some fun at Chicano Park Day for about an hour or more.  Take the family or take a date!  It's kind of hard to find parking, but it's possible.  And there's also a trolley stop near the park.

This year, Chicano Park Day is also celebrating the life of Chunky Sanchez, who is featured in the video.  It is the 47th annual Chicano Park day--the day the people of Barrio Logan, with their college student allies, reclaimed the land for the neighborhood.  There will be booths, food, demonstrations, dancing, singing, primo low-rider vintage car display and more.  It's a wonderful event to attend, and I'm going to try to get there.  Located at Logan Avenue and National Avenue,  Take I-8 or I-94 to I-5 South.  Going I-5 South, take exit 14B - toward Cesar Chavez Parkway and turn left; take the first right onto Logan Ave.  Chicano Park is 1949 Logan Ave.
