What the students do within the assessment should produce

Assignment: Table of Specifications

This assignment requires a 3 page paper and then a 1 page discussion of the table--as described below.

A key component of good curriculum development is the alignment of instruction with assessment tasks. Sudweeks (n.d.) stated, "What the students do within the assessment should produce data that can be measured so that reasonable judgments can be made about the student's achievement of the outcome" (para. 1). One way to accomplish this is to create a table of specifications.

In this assignment, you will read Sudweeks' article "Aligning Instruction with Assessments" and create a table of specifications for an exam of your choice and Bloom's taxonomy.

Tasks:

Read Sudweeks' (n.d.) article "Aligning Instruction with Assessments" and write a 2- to 3-page paper, including the following points:

Considering an exam that you have written, the learning objectives for that particular unit of instruction, and Bloom's taxonomy, create a table of specifications for that exam.

Write a 1-page (minimum) paper discussing at least 3 ways in which this table can be used.
