A talking point of Donald Trumps presidential campaign was to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States (Applebaum, 2016). Given the rise of automation and robotics, manufacturing, but not manufacturing jobs, is likely to return to the United States. What are the implications of the hypothesized robotic manufacturing innovations? What systemic changes and disruptions are likely?
